In June 2002 the International Alliance, in partnership with the Rainforest Foundation, organized a 'Speaking Out' Conference to provide an opportunity for a range of indigenous peoples' representatives to present their experiences and opinions of previous and current EU-funded projects involving indigenous peoples. The detailed case studies, prepared by indigenous researchers from the Alliance regions, provided clear inputs into the EU review of their policy on indigenous peoples.
